The Tichan Peninsula
Tichan is the name of a peninsula located on the southern end of the continent of Grantia. Tichan was once the home of the Tovanian Empire. Tovan was a small city state that over 1500 years earlier had grown into an empire that controlled the entire peninsula as well as large swaths of the Grantian mainland. At its height the Tovanian Empire was a military, maritime, and commercial power. It held sway for hundreds of years until utterly collapsing under the weight of internal and external pressures nearly 900 years ago. The town of Tovan, consisting of less than 5000 souls, stands on the ruins of the once great capital city. The rest of the peninsula has also suffered from intense de-population. Population centers, such as they are, hold at most a few thousand citizens, while the majority of settlements are nothing more than villages with fewer than 800 people.
